“ Who would have thought you can find an authentic Mexican restaurant in this little unassuming street across the river?? Fat Lou's Café is family owned, and everything is made fresh! The chips and salsa are incredible and the chili Verde divine! The people are welcoming, and the owner came out and chatted with us for a bit. Super sweet folks. Inside looks like the kind of place you drop in for a quick bite or a quick drink, but the food is spectacular and it makes you wanna sit and hang out for a while. My friend had the posole and it was incredible. The corn & flour tortillas were made in house and so delicious. The breakfast menu also looks spectacular! ”

“ Just driving through Walnut Grove, and saw this restaurant with a sign about their tamales. Went and ordered six tamales 3 green pork and 3 I think he said red chili cheese tamales. Some of the best tamales we've ever had. I saw other people eating tacos, steaks, and burgers that looked incredible I didn't have time or I would've ordered other things as well. I did meet Lou, super cool ”

“ Incredible meal at Fat Lou's. We were drawn in by the chili verde and ended up getting the half/half plate. Chili verde and chili relleno combo with rice, beans, and home made corn tortillas. I feel like a measure of good Mexican food is the rice and beans, and honestly the rice is the best I've had in a long time. We will return for the bbq as it smelt amazing. Great indoor and outdoor seating options with a view of the river. The staff is so kind. Do yourself a favor and grab a modelo from the fridge, place your order, enjoy the view, and get ready to unbutton your jeans because this meal will have keep you coming back for more! ”

“ WOW! This place is a gem!!! Just 15 minutes outside of Elk Grove, it's so worth the scenic drive!!! It is a family owned restaurant and they treat you like part of the family when you are there. The food tastes like you are sitting down in their home with them. It's fresh, authentic, and made with care and love. The Chile verde was the best I've ever eaten! We say on the small patio out front since we had our dog. They even brought out fresh water for him. Can't wait to go back! ”

“ We were hanging out at Ko Ket resort having margaritas and listening to a band and I found this place on Yelp. I guess because the weather kinda sucked it was empty. I had the chili verde and steak ranchero combo and really liked it. Joe actually also gave me some chicana too, not sure why, but it was all very tasty. Both Joe and his wife were really friendly and cool. I'm looking forward to trying more menu items next time I'm in Isleton. Def recommend! ”
